The Way Forward
National Grid's cleanup efforts in Bay Shore and Brightwaters will continue until the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) determines that the work is done. The company will return remediated land to productive, environmentally responsible uses as soon as possible, with input from regulators, and state and local officials.
National Grid strives to be a good neighbor and encourages the involvement of the local communities where they operate. Together with NYSDEC, company representatives will continue to meet with the local community and advocacy groups to share information and address concerns.
